Virtual Tour:
Bernhard Rothfos and InterAmerican Coffee in Hamburg

Bernhard Rothfos (BR) and InterAmerican Coffee Hamburg (IAC) are both closely connected to the global green coffee trade – working from the same premises, but with different perspectives on the business.

With more than 100 years of experience, Bernhard Rothfos is strongly linked to the commercial side of trade. Large volumes, evolving market dynamics and delivery of consistent, reliable quality play a central role in the day-to-day work – reflecting both today’s realities and the company’s long-standing importance within NKG. InterAmerican Coffee, on the other hand, operates more in the specialty segment, where the focus lies on individual coffee profiles, specific characteristics and what makes each coffee unique. Together, they show how broad and diverse coffee trade can be – from scale and structure to individuality and detail.

Join us for a virtual tour of our Hamburg office: together with Jonas Janecki, Trader BR, and André Arcanjo, Quality Expert BR, you can explore the spaces, teams and processes behind the journey of green coffee. They take you through the joint offices of both companies and offer a closer look at how trade is put into practice here at NKG.

1. Office room Tour

Jonas starts the tour in the Trade area, taking you along the BR and IAC trading floor and across to the neighboring teams on the same level. Moving through the offices, you pass Management, Futures, the InterAmerican Coffee Trade team and Sustainability.

The tour then continues towards Logistics, following the path from the trading desks further into the processes behind the scenes.

2. the quality department

The next stop takes you to the 7th floor, where André introduces the Quality department. As you move through the space, you get a look at where cuppings take place, how quality checks are organized and how samples are stored and sorted.

Along the way, you get a closer impression of the daily routines and setups behind quality work in Hamburg.

3. talk about quality and trade

In the final part of the tour, you join Jonas and André as they bring together perspectives from Trade and Quality. Follow their conversation around the cupping table and get a sense of how both areas work side by side in everyday practice.

Along the way, you see how different priorities – from Bernhard Rothfos to InterAmerican Coffee – come into play when evaluating coffee, and how these differences are discussed and aligned.

Virtual Tour: NKG Fazenda da Lagoa

Located in Santo Antônio do Amparo, Minas Gerais, in the heart of Brazil’s coffee production region, the history of Fazenda da Lagoa (NKG Fazendas Brasileiras) dates back to Colonial Brazil, when the Portuguese settler Manoel Ferreira Carneiro received these lands in 1764 for sugarcane cultivation and cattle raising. In 1860, the first coffee tree in the Campos das Vertentes region was planted at Fazenda da Lagoa, and in 2003, the property joined the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe, which is fully dedicated to sustainable coffee production.

A personal message to Kaweri: More than just ‘the case’!

Since its establishment, NKG’s Kaweri Coffee Plantation in Uganda has frequently been in the spotlight of the international media, particularly in relation to allegations of land grabbing and forced eviction. This entrenched, one-sided and negative reporting does not do the farm justice in the slightest.

Mail from Group Comms: A personal Update

Dear MAG-readers,
Sometimes, when I’m sitting at my laptop in Hamburg, it seems to me as if I was quite far away from our product, especially the beginning of the coffee supply chain. Then, I remember that I’m only a phone call, email, or Teams message away from the farms and exporters. Every time I talk to colleagues who work in coffee cultivation or at our export companies, I feel that this is not that far. Although we live in different time zones and work in different realities, something common emerges from our exchanges. And here, where the coffee journey begins, is also where our new MAG series starts: From Farm to Shipment – Where Coffee Begins.
