How did you become part of NKG?
I have been working in taxation for over 25 years. After years in consulting, I moved into business and have been an in-house tax advisor ever since. Here, I have provided tax advice to many industries and gained a wealth of experience in smaller and larger international corporations. Most recently, I was Head of Tax at an international gas company. In June 2022, I took over as Head of the Tax Department at Neumann Gruppe GmbH, returning to Hamburg after many years away.
What are the main focuses of your work, what are you currently working on?
The world of taxation is becoming increasingly complex and the challenges facing corporations are growing. Even though NKG still feels like a medium-sized family business at heart, the group is confronted with many requirements from tax authorities in over 30 countries. When I started, there was only one person in the tax department. I am delighted that we have managed to develop the Tax Department and grow from a One-Person Tax Team to a six-person Group Tax Team. We have set up and established tax compliance processes, successfully introduced a new tax reporting tool (GTC) across the group, and in 2024 we were able to establish the billing of holding services within the group for the first time. In my day-to-day work, in addition to managing the department, I act as a sparring partner for tax issues and support the management, the departments, and the group companies in overcoming tax challenges.
