Sometimes it is time to focus on positive news only. That’s why we want to share a lot of positive news and success stories here in our 2025 @ NKG so far update:. Congratulations, everyone!

(Specialty) Roaster Day(s) in Hamburg

Bernhard Rothfos and InterAmerican Coffee invited their roasting customers to the Coffee Plaza in Hamburg for days full of exciting content on coffee. For their “Roaster Day,” BR welcomed speakers from our origin operations in East Africa and Indonesia, our UK Stat Unit, and several coffee experts from NKG Hamburg. During the “Specialty Roaster Days”, IAC held workshops and cuppings in collaboration with Nordic Approach.

Ana Wilks represented NKG at the Women in Tea & Coffee Event

The Women in Tea and Coffee event in London brought together professionals from across the global tea and coffee industries and offered speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities. Head of Research Ana Wilks represented NKG and share her experiences, challenges and advice for building a career in the sector during the Careers in Tea & Coffee Panel Discussion. She has been accompanied by Josephine Vania from Bero Singapore.

New partnership in Ethiopia established

NKG and MIDROC Investment Group, the owner of the world’s largest coffee farms as well as coffee processing and warehousing facilities in Addis Ababa signed a bilateral coffee marketing agreement. This strategic partnership brings numerous benefits to NKG, including exclusive marketing rights to MIDROC’s exceptional coffee. The agreement is designed to make Ethiopian coffee even more competitive on the world stage.

Strengthening the bond and building a common vision

From March 30 to April 4th, 2025, sustainability colleagues from 15 NKG group companies came together in Hamburg for the first NKG Farmer Services Summit – a week dedicated to exchanging knowledge, sharing of experiences, and co-creating ideas on how to support farmers in tackling present and future challenges in coffee farming.

A Great Place to Work – now officially!

NKG Stockler became officially certified as a Great Place to Work by the external consultancy, Great Place to Work, GPTW. NKG Stockler invited its employees to evaluate the corporate environment through an Organizational Climate Survey. Due to the positive results of the survey, the company received the GPTW Certification Seal. This achievement reflects what matters most at NKG Stockler: the people who make its workplace special every single day.

Exhibitions, Exhibitions!

Atlas, InterAmerican Coffee, and Rothfos represented NKG at the Specialty Coffee Expo in Houston, Texas in May. At a public cupping they highlighted coffees from our colleagues in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Mexico! Furthermore, NKG was present e. g., at the Gulfood, the London Coffee Festival, and the World Of Coffee(s) in Dubai, Jakarta and Geneva! And there are more events to come!

Taking the stage

Jette Brandauer was invited to speak on Data, Collaboration, and the Future of Coffee at the Sustainability osapiens Summit, in Mannheim, Germany. Jette discussed how NKG is tackling EUDR compliance in different markets and how a shared system can drive efficiencies and create real impact live in front of 2,000 listeners! Wow!

Running Together for a Cause – Milan Relay Marathon 2025

Participating in the Milan Relay Marathon is a real tradition for the team of NKG Bero Italia! The marathon is a charity event that each time keeps bringing them closer, both as colleagues and as people. Four teams proudly represented the company this time. Elena Gramatica form the Trading team said: “It’s always an emotional and energizing experience, and we are already doing the countdown till the next edition.”

Changes for a strong future: Aligning our strategic approach, organizational structure and cultural transformation

In the past years, we have seen a lot of changes in the world around us, not just directly in coffee – and that has changed the challenges and contents of our work. While before, the tone at NKG has been to go ahead and keep on doing what we do in the best way we can – and grow from year to year -, we now see ourselves confronted with a much more complex reality: doing a great job buying, milling and selling and moving coffee is not enough anymore. At NKG, we have already worked on this intensively and adapted to these fast-paced times in many ways. But still: We need to further integrate the context and changes we experience in our strategic as well as very practical approach, reflect upon it in our organizational structure, the people leading the way and the culture we live at NKG. This is key to make sure that we will continue to be the successful number one in the world’s coffee trade in the future.
