Mail from NG Comms

Hej there dear MAG-readers,

How are you all doing, and how has the past year been for you?

We obviously talk a lot about resilience in this issue (you will recognize it as soon as you have read the title of the MAG), but it’s also been something that we as a team and I personally had to deal with all the time. So, what do I mean when talking about “gaining resilience” in the context of working life at NKG? There are, of course, different ways of approaching this term. For me, it is not only about the ability to adapt, recover, and grow in the face of challenges or significant stress. Resilience is also about how we, as a team and as a group, lift each other up, celebrate our achievements and help each other to thrive in times of uncertainty. And it is thus also about using the tools we have and sharing them.

In Communications, as in many other departments, resilience is more than a buzzword – it is part of the job description. Whether it’s responding to last-minute updates or shifting gears to address new priorities. In this context, I have learned to focus on creativity to tackle unexpected tasks and be more patient – with myself and others. And none of this would have been possible if we didn’t work as a team at NG Comms – looking out for each other, celebrating our successes and backing each other up when needed. 🫶

What else happened this year that I would like to share with you? I especially enjoyed working on the NKG Sustainability Report 2024, which was definitely one of my highlights. Apart from my own team, the report team consisted of some of my favorite people to work with! 🫰 Another highlight was the release of our NKG Image Video. You have not seen it yet? Huge recommendation from me: go watch it right now!

I also loved reading your answers to the question we asked last time in our short questionnaire (you might remember: what was the best thing that happened to you lately?)! Thanks to all of you who participated. One example stands out to me because it illustrates exactly what I meant when I talked about resilience: A colleague from Becamo shared the joy of completing the 5K of a team marathon. What a great collective achievement – congratulations to the whole team! 😊 This moment of teamwork and determination shows the spirit of resilience we’re striving for. So, this time I would like to ask you a different question: What was the last thing you celebrated for someone else? We would love to hear your stories of shared joy, so please feel free to let us know in the comment section below!

We wish you a happy holiday season. For next year, we wish you a great start, lots of renewed energy and many moments worth celebrating!

All the best from Hamburg

Julia Wichert

PS: This time, we have a very fun picture for you – we went to an ice cream workshop! Lena and Benjamin tried a vegan almond and amaretto ice cream with chocolate sauce and toasted almonds, while Nina and I decided on a vanilla-basil-mango ice cream with mango gin sauce. Both creations successfully passed the taste test 😉!
