Interview with
Dominique Vaudour

For the past 16 years, Dominique Vaudour has been an integral part of NKG, taking on roles as first Finance Officer and then Chief Financial Officer at Maison Jobin since 2007. Her coffee journey, however, started even earlier as an accountant at Sté Raoul-Duval, a company trading coffee and cocoa. The spark for her passion for coffee came from an unexpected source: “It was through reading ‘The African Farm’ by Karen Blixen that I discovered my fascination for coffee,” Dominique shares. When it comes to working at NKG, she especially loves the diversity: “The variety of nationalities and tasks is amazing. I really enjoy discussing with colleagues in English or Spanish – it’s always a rewarding experience.” Would she ever swap jobs with someone else from the NKG world? “No,” says Dominique, “I am too happy working with my colleague Julie!”

What does a perfect weekend look like for you?

Gardening, having a long walk on the beach or in the forest, embroidering, walking to the food market, having a whatsApp call with our children, my parents, embroidering outside while my husband has a drawing session with his Urban Sketchers local group.

What is the most memorable trip or vacation you’ve ever taken and why?

It was my first trip to Hamburg to attend the Get Together in 2008, it was incredible! I have a very fond memory of Mr Michael Neumann wearing an electric blue whig and cheering everybody on their performance during the social day!

How do you like to drink your coffee and in which situation?

All day long and only espresso in a small porcelain cup and without sugar.

What makes you laugh a lot?

The dog of our youngest daughter trying to perform the sun salutation.

Do you have any hidden skills nobody expects you to have?

I have a collection of pebbles that I covered with embroidery threads. I find it very relaxing in the making, like sewing.

If you could be any fictional character for a week, who would it be and what adventures would you have?

A mermaid for sure, I would explore all the oceans and seas, I love snorkeling and feel so relaxed in the sea! It is like a Yoga Nidra for me.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and who gave it to you?

During some holidays with the children in Mallorca, a guide suggested us to go to Menorca, so some years after we gave it a try and this is how we now enjoy time in our home in Menorca in spring and summer. We have discovered life in a village for us.
